This year's symposium was held at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Niš. Seventeen works by authors from six countries were presented, of which eight authors were from Serbia.
The morning part of the first day of the symposium was dedicated to topics related to the cultural heritage of the countries that make up the Sultans Trail. In the afternoon part, two presentations were specifically related to cultural routes: "Promotion of Council of Europe Cultural Routes in Serbia", Smiljane Novičić (Tourist Organization of Serbia) and "Bridges of Peace: Tourism and Culture" by Prof. Jovan Popesku.
During the second day of work, a session was held dedicated to cultural routes, as well as other tourist routes - their establishment, use, creation of new ones, as well as the relationship between transformative tourism and cultural routes.
Five papers were presented in the session, three authors from Serbia: Dr. Ivana Damnjanović (''Creating a journey: Exploiting the transformative power of routes''), as an opening presentation, Prof. Tatjana Pivac (''Cluster of cultural routes'') and Ljubiša Nešovanović (''Creating new products in cultural tourism''). Along with them, presentations were also made by Holger de Bruin ('The Via Egnatica, the old Roman Road to Byzantium') and Cezar Cherciu ('The Danube Trail - Our Common Ground on Water"). Introductory remarks and conclusion were presented by Prof. Jovan Popesku.
